The Book of Kells

Sir, – Roger Stalley (Letters, February 11th) asks why the Book of Kells, if it had been returned to Kells from Iona for elaborate decoration, was never finished. May I suggest the following scenario: the committee for elaborate decoration met and decided to proceed with the work. This decision was challenged by a judicial review and the results of this review were then subjected to a tribunal. Sadly the findings of the tribunal have not yet been made public. – Yours, etc,

MALACHY THOMPSON,

Renmore,
