Sir, The treelined approach from the Kinsealy area to Malahide is one of the most beautiful and attractive features of our pleasant town. It seems that a development company has plans to change all this by cutting down many of these lovely trees, thus destroying forever something that we, the residents, greatly cherish.
Our local government representatives and our local TDs are all well aware of the total opposition of their community to this proposal but it seems that the developers, for some reason as yet unknown, may have more influence than the electorate.
Some years ago the people of County Cavan had problems with pot-holes in their roads and their elected representatives refused to heed their complaints and appeals, so at the earliest opportunity the Cavan people elected representatives who would heed them and soon the potholes were filled in and the roads improved.
Fortunately, public representatives can easily be replaced and, unfortunately, beautiful mature trees cannot, so hopefully the Developers will think again and spare our trees. - Yours, etc.,
Ard na Mara,
Malahide, Co Dublin.
