Madam, - Enda Kenny's comment that his "focus is to get candidates for the locals who are going to win Dáil seats" (The Irish Times, January 3rd) reveals a regrettable yet widespread attitude to local government.
In about 20 weeks' time all the political parties, including my own, will be asking citizens to vote in local elections. Is there any chance, then, that some focus could be placed on the role of local government and the huge scope for reforming, restructuring and refinancing it? - Yours, etc.,
