Madam, - Your report on the Revenue's list of tax defaulters made interesting reading (The Irish Times, December 20th).
Leading the "league of greed" were farmers, who are forever bemoaning their lot and demanding ever more handouts from the hard-pressed taxpayer. Also strongly featured were publicans, who would have us believe they will all be bankrupt when the smoking ban is imposed to protect the health of workers - the same working people who have their tax deducted by the PAYE system.
It is long past time the powers that be caught up with those who have milked the system for so long. Well done to the Revenue Commissioners. More power to their elbows - and to your newspaper for highlighting the ways of the greedy. - Yours, etc.,
