Sir, – I see that Nama, in its decision to award the sale of Derek Quinlan’s art collection to the British auctioneers, Christie’s, has seen fit to bypass all of the Irish firms, which, I would imagine, are equal to the task, and which represent the best market for Irish art (Home News, August 18th). Those firms employ Irish residents and pay Irish taxes, and are saddled with the burden of funding that self-same institution.
Are we to find out who exactly awarded that self-same contract and their reasons why? – Yours etc,
