Madam, - The announcement that the Dáil will have to sit for extra days to cope with the volume of business prompts this suggestion: Why not have the Dáil go on line?
In a virtual Oireachtas TDs and Senators could participate from their own homes, at any hour of the day or night, legislate efficiently at their own pace. The competitive element, so important to today's government, might be introduced by allowing the public to contribute online as well.
Mr Noel Dempsey would the ideal member of the government to see this through, perhaps with the advice of Hibernia College. - Yours, etc.,
MARTIN MAGUIRE, Greenville Terrace, Dublin 8.
