Madam, - Mark Steyn, in his article "Is it all just unfortunate coincidence?" (October 20th), reflects the fact that the world is moving towards a polarised state in which Western civilisation is in direct conflict with the Muslim world.
Such articles as Mr Steyn's, full of hate and disgust, promote racial hatred and discourage religious tolerance.
The Irish Times, as a responsible newspaper, should not publish such articles which result in negative opinion formation.
An increase in violence and acts of hatred against Muslims could jeopardise the peaceful lives of a lot of people as there is a reaction for every action. - Yours, etc. ,
