Sir, – I am writing to express a viewpoint that seems overlooked in your publication.

From what I’ve seen and heard within my community, the deposit return scheme is performing well, contrary to the negative portrayals often presented.

It’s crucial to recognise that people with accessibility challenges may find the system difficult, and their input is essential for any improvements.

However, the constant criticism does not reflect the positive experiences of most of us. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Regarding Tom Fuller’s observation about the group of children being disappointed about the machines being out of order (Letters, April 25th), they might have been doubly disappointed by the rejection of the same cans and bottles that were not bought in the store where they were trying to participate in the great idea of the deposit return scheme.

Most machines only accept returns bought on the premises – a bit of a flaw in the great idea. – Yours, etc,
