Sir, I note with interest in Monday's paper (June 24th) that the proposed casino site in the Phoenix Park may be reopened as a racecourse. I do not wish to dampen the enthusiasm of those concerned, but I should perhaps point out to them that this may meet with opposition. I refer to the main objections to the casino, namely the increased traffic in the area, and the gambling which would take place there which would cause undesirable people to frequent the vicinity.
