Sir, - Given that the Minister for Education has established a basic rate of €36.24 for the supervision of students, is it his intention to pay this hourly rate to teachers and others who will supervise and superintend State examinations? The duties and responsibilities of those who supervise State examinations must be at least as onerous and meritorious as basic supervision of pupils in school yards and corridors.
Can I presume, therefore, that, in equity, supervisors of State examinations will be paid at this rate and not at last year's rate of £60/€75 per day, or approximately €9 an hour? - Yours, etc.,
