Many voices, much confusion

Sir, – Why do so many panellists ruin discussions on radio by rudely interrupting others who are speaking?

Do they not realise that while they may shout down the speaker, their own point of view is also lost in the ensuing bedlam? It was refreshing on Marian Finucane’s programme last weekend when nobody interrupted, thus allowing everyone’s opinion to be heard, and avoiding the frustration of listeners who genuinely want to hear all views on the topic in question.

Will they ever learn? – Yours, etc,
