Liam Cosgrave – is this a record?

Sir, – Ronan Scanlan (June 6th) makes an interesting point about Liam Cosgrave as being the oldest former prime minister in Europe. Here's another question. Liam Cosgrave was first elected to Dáil Éireann in 1943, at the age of 23, that is 74 years ago. Is he the only living person worldwide who was elected to a national parliament during the second World War? Most likely he is. There were not many democracies then, and quite unusual for anyone to be elected at age 23. So he must hold a record! – Yours, etc,
