Madam, - Will electioneering politicians address the ever-worsening childcare situation? Typical annual increases in creche fees stand well above the inflation rate, and seem focused on absorbing any increment to child benefit. In the absence of public childcare structures, control over private pricing or a consumer association with teeth, most mothers see no Government support to sustain their choice to continue working.
Will the Government passively accept the exploitative practice of private childcare targeting parents? - Yours, etc,
TERESA ZILLE, Monkstown, Co Dublin.
