Halloween and a public holiday

Sir, – The school Halloween holidays always start with the October bank holiday Monday.

This year we have the very unfortunate situation of children heading out trick-or-treating on Sunday night, consequently having a load of chocolate, and then we will be trying to get them to bed for school the next day.

The bank holiday would do better to follow Halloween rather than be the last Monday in October.

This year it should have been on Monday, November 1st.

Dear Government, can we fix this for the next Sunday Halloween in 2027 please? – Yours, etc,

TOM CORCORAN,

Mount Temple,

Co Westmeath.
