GOODBYE EUROSPORT

BRIAN McCANN.

BRIAN McCANN.

Sir, - At the opposite end of life's span to your correspondent, Michael Feeney (I am 68), could it be possible that it is cheaper for NTL to give us CNBC instead of Eurosport? Nobody that I have asked is in favour of the change, and to my knowledge subscribers were not consulted. Mr Feeney mentions tennis - how much greater for me the loss of the best coverage anywhere of motor sports, on two wheels and four?

The continuing difficulty in contacting anyone at NTL by telephone (see your TV review of February 2nd) to complain prompts the question - does the paying punter really matter? We certainly pay enough for the "service". Roll on the opposition! - Yours, etc.,

BRIAN McCANN.

Sir, - Like Michael Feeney (February 9th) I am dismayed by NTL's latest switch of channels. I am a great fan of motorsport and Eurosport is one of the only channel's with motorsport coverage. Thanks to the removal of Eurosport from NTL's cable package motorsport fans are missing many events including the Le Mans 24-hour race, the American Cart Championship, Nascar, Formula 3000, Formula Renault, Indy Racing League, and the list goes on.

I also agree with Mr Feeney's letter ( February 7th) which correctly and concisely described CNBC as nothing short of a sleeping pill. Eurosport has an almost universal appeal to the viewing public whereas most of the CNBC schedule content appeals only to stock traders and executives of multinational companies. Is NTL attempting to focus the minds of those within the Irish financial sector? - Yours, etc.,
