Feeding the electricity grid

Sir, – Earlier this year I added solar PV panels and a battery to my house. That system provides the majority of the power my home use. Occasionally, I generate so much power I end up feeding it into the grid.

Why do I not get compensation for that? The Government was supposed to have feed-in tariff rules set by July. There’s little sign that will happen. As more people install solar PV, the grid is getting more free power from homeowners.

Isn’t this effectively State aid for the grid? By not legislating they’re putting more and more free power into the grid. That seems like a subsidy to me.
