Cancellations and Irish Ferries

Sir, – Further to “Ferry delay sees thousands more hit by Irish Ferries cancellations” (June 12th), I wonder are passengers who contact the Irish Ferries 0818 helpline aware of the costs of mobile phone calls to 0818 and 1890 numbers?

I think that it is extraordinary that a company that has ruined the holidays of thousands of people is using a number from which it is in receipt of a premium from each call it receives.

Why can it not use a 1800 number that is free to the caller? – Yours, etc,

DONAL O’CONNOR,

Sir, – I will arise and go now and go to Innisfree but not with WB Yeats. – Yours, etc,

SEAN BARRETT,

Dublin 2.

Sir, – Once again Irish Ferries has been forced to cancel its planned introduction of its new ship, the WB Yeats.

Do we have more chance of sailing to Byzantium than to France? – Yours, etc,

RORY J WHELAN,

Co Louth.

Sir, – The ship has hit the fan. – Yours, etc,

DAVE O’SULLIVAN,

Sir, – That ship should be renamed the WB Lates! – Yours, etc,

Sir, – “Life is a long preparation for something that never happens,” wrote William Butler Yeats.

Hopefully one day our ship will come in and prove him wrong. – Yours, etc,
