Sir, – Your letter-writers (December 28th) comment on the UK passport and how Britain could have kept the blue colour even in the EU.
If there was no need to change, why did we lose our unique green one at the same time?
It would appear that we all misread the rules to conform, or was the intention of the EU to trigger change by a process of misinformation? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Theresa May, announcing that the “iconic” blue passport will return once the UK leaves the EU, stated that the passport is “an expression of our independence and sovereignty – symbolising our citizenship of a proud, great nation”.
She could also have added that it will be a constant reminder to politicians and citizens worldwide of the consequences of a stupid and poorly thought-out referendum.
In reality, it is sad to think that changing the colour of the passport is probably the only real, tangible decision that her government has managed to make to date regarding Brexit. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Aoife Lord (December 28th) states that UK passport holders will be stuck in the long non-EU queue at Dublin Airport.
On the other side, at UK airports, UK passport holders will have their own fast-moving UK queues and will no longer be delayed in EU queues.
Alas, the Irish passport holders will be delayed in these EU queues unless the Republic exits the EU! – Yours, etc,
