Bankers and pay

Sir, – I read recently that Irish bankers are looking to have their pay ceiling either cancelled or increased beyond the present level of €500,000 per annum.

It seems to me that if they’re so bad at managing their own money that they can’t get by on €10,000 per week, I really don’t want them to have anything to do with mine.

If they’re leaving the banks in search of more money, I’d be for letting them go. People like that will always complain that they’re underpaid no matter how much you pay them.

And I presume many of these are the same people who ran the tracker mortgage scandal.

So give them the farewell party, the little present, the pat on the back, and show them the door. – Yours, etc,
