Sir - It would be very helpful if the media were to give prominence to the many acts of welcome for refugees to Ireland rather than emphasising the negative responses and thereby possibly increasing them. One particular recent example was in Killarney, where the GAA invited 200 asylum-seekers to the Cork-Kerry football match and publicly welcomed them to the event.
We would do well to emphasise the positive in a situation which could easily be exploited by the ignorant or xenophobic among us - Yours, etc.,
