Sir, - Prime Time on RTE 1 featured the dangers inherent in excessive levels of drinking alcohol, especially among young people. The programme focused on the role of drink in Irish society and related pressures on the health services.
It was ironic that around the same time, the media featured eminent Irish and American politicians meeting at a Dublin brewery and a Drumcondra pub. I hate to spoil the party but such a major publicity boost for the so-called drink culture deserves some critical comment. Using the Irish word in its original sense, we could do with some real Slainte - Yours, etc.
