Sir, - As a daily reader and fan of The Irish Times, I must question your judgement in repeatedly giving space on your letters page to David I. Greenberg, vice president of EU Corporate Affairs at Philip Morris (June 26th, July 23rd). Mr Greenberg undoubtedly is very well paid by affluent Philip Morris to uphold its present advertising campaign, which is slowly turning the corporation into a laughing stock. Most thinking people recognise that this advertising technique is the desperate attempt of a loser.
If Mr Greenberg wants to respond to your columnists or letter writers commenting on the Philip Morris advertised "argument", let them buy an editorial type page or two ad from your classified section. There is no reason why The Irish Times, nor your customers, should fund their fatuous rebuttals. - Yours, etc.,
Scilly, Kinsale, Co Cork.
