Sir, – Today there is only one name for our new bridge, “Olympic Bridge”.
I would put a plaque on one side showing names of our Irish medallists, going right back over the years. On the other side I would list the names of all our competitors who did not win medals. They are also Olympians and as such deserve to be honoured.
Generations of our young people might be inspired to emulate these wonderful athletes, who have shown that there is more to life than drink and drugs.
Such a roll of honour could hardly fail to inspire. – Yours, etc,
