A Hint On Tints

Sir, - Compliments to TG4 for showing some rarely seen movies from the 1930s and 1940s in its midday slot. I was disappointed, however, that the classic comedy Nothing Sacred, with Fredric March and the unsurpassable Carole Lombard, was shown on August 10th in a coloured version. I feel that films made in black and white should not be tampered with.

The process of colour tinting gives them a look of artificiality, destroying the mood and texture of the whole film.

I hope TG4 will have the good sense to see that the distributors supply the original product for all future transmissions. - Yours, etc.,
