Litigation principles and solicitors

Thousands of (billable) hours are wasted every year

The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor.

Sir, – Regarding John McManus’s column “Do we need more judges to speed up the justice system or is the problem too many lawyers?”, February 9th. Contrary to the suggestion in the article, hospitals are not know for regularly admitting liability for birth defects, or any other negligence for that matter.

Thousands of (billable) hours are wasted every year proving the obvious on one side and defending the indefensible on the other. Perhaps if the State did more than pay lip service to the litigation principles (State Litigation Principles) it itself proposed to abide by we might make some progress. – Yours,
