Civil Service and remote work

A culture of presenteeism

Letter of the Day
Letter of the Day

Sir, – The controversy about whether public service workers should attend their offices seems like a red herring and risks achieving nothing more than a culture of presenteeism (“Civil Service rows back from remote work”, News, January 31st). Measurement of the outputs and outcomes delivered by staff, backed by appropriate rewards and sanctions, would surely be a better focus for the incoming Government. – Yours, etc,

SEAN RYAN,

Mountshannon,

Co Clare.
