Sir, – Bambie Thug will be Ireland’s representative singer at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest (“Cork singer will compete for spot in Eurovision grand final”, News, January 30th). They are a non-binary singer from Macroom, Co Cork, who wanted to be a ballet performer before studying musical theatre. Their music has been variously described as “ouija-pop”, “hyperpunk avant electro-pop” and “effervescent late-night goth pop”. They describe themself as “Nightcore Barbie” and “your witchy king antidote to the world”.
