A chara, – Colin Walsh claims that I object to nuclear power (Letters, September 19th). I don’t. I use electricity and we have interconnectors that bring in nuclear power from neighbouring states. I am opposed to the wishful thinking that somehow we can magic a nuclear power station into existence sometime soon. We can’t – and we do not have the luxury of waiting 20-plus years for it.
Mr Walsh suggests that “developing green technologies will take time”.
Wind and hydro have existed for centuries. Dairy farmers who have installed photovoltaic panels are making handsome savings from them. Already, some farmers are generating power from the methane gas given off by slurry.
