A chara, – I was travelling toward the city centre on Dublin Bus route 145 this week when four French visitors boarded at the Hampton Hotel. Their destination was the Guinness Storehouse and when the driver informed them of the fare, it was clear that they did not have sufficient coins.
A passenger came forward, tendered her Leap card and paid the fare for all four. Our French visitors were very grateful and offered “Merci beaucoup”.
On leaving the bus, I remarked to the lady how kind it was of her and she replied that it was her birthday and she was sharing the love.
I hope this kind lady enjoyed the birthday she deserved. – Yours, etc,
