Sir, – While much is often made of the Leaving Cert students suffering the impending heartbreak of having to sit exams during the glorious June weather, perhaps we should spare a thought for the Irish private-sector workers, drudging away year on year, who are entitled to a paltry four weeks annual leave.
This is one week less than much of western Europe, despite the fact that the Irish work significantly longer hours on average.
