We have been asked to point out by Judge John O’Hagan that an indirect quote, from a court report on February 12th, in relation to the sentencing of a teenager for dangerous driving causing the death of Garda Robbie McCallion was incorrect.

Judge O’Hagan did not say he was “merely following the instructions of the Minister for Justice” when he previously instructed the jury to ignore that Mr McCallion was a garda. This was a misrepresentation by the court reporter. Judge O’Hagan said only that “I must apply the law and that is what I did”.
