Members of the Army bomb disposal unit were last night examining an unexploded grenade found by a resident in Bray, Co Wicklow.

The area around the house in Sugarloaf Crescent was sealed off when the device was found. An examination revealed it contained no explosive material.

A spokesman for the Defence Forces said the device dated from after the Second World War.
