US man (23) admits beheading his mother with axe

A Florida man has been charged with murder after his mother was found decapitated outside their home on New Year’s Eve.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, Mario Gomez called 911 last night and told dispatchers that his brother Christian had killed their mother and cut off her head.

Deputies found Maria Suarez-Cassagne’s body near rubbish bins, outside the Oldsmar home.

Authorities said 23-year-old Christian Gomez had fled the scene, but he was arrested after another emergency call reported a suspicious person riding a bicycle in the area.

According to the sheriff’s office, Christian Gomez confessed to killing his mother. Authorities said investigators recovered an axe.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said on Thursday that Christian Gomez had planned his mother’s murder for two days. He attacked his mother in the garage with an axe, severing her head, Mr Gualtieri said.

He was upset with his mother because she wanted him to move boxes around the house, and he was jealous of the attention that Suarez-Cassagne paid to his brother, the sheriff said.

Mario Gomez (27) was not injured.
