Appeal to identify dead kayaker said to have Irish accent

Man believed to be in his 20s or 30s found in vessel on Isle of Wight on September 11th

British police are appealing for help identifying a dead kayaker thought to have had an Irish accent.

According to Hampshire police, the body was found on Yaverland Beach, Sandown, on the Isle of Wight on September 11th.

Police were called at 7.20pm after the man was found in the kayak.

The man was last seen at Brighton Canoes, in Newhaven, Sussex, at around 4pm on September 8th. He is believed to have had an Irish accent.

The man believed to be in his mid-20s to mid-30s is white has blue eyes and dark hair. He was described as well built and was wearing beige shorts and a blue zip-up jacket.

The kayak was a yellow and black “blow up” Sevylor Conrad.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to try to establish the circumstances.
