The EMC World Cup is to return to The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina next year, the scene of Padraig Harrington’s and Paul McGinley’s triumph in 1997.

The $1m event, won last year by South Africa's Ernie Els and Retief Goosen, will take place in November 2003.

The seaside course last hosted the annual two-man event in 1997 and has since both the course and the tournament have been undergoing alterations.

Since 2000, the event has come under the umbrella of the World Golf Championships and undergone a title and format change.

The venue, where the United States claimed the 1991 Ryder Cup, has also seen some changes, most notably the 18th green, which moves closer to the Atlantic Ocean.
