A young Co Clare woman who was brain-damaged following an accident on a school bus five years ago is to be paid £1

A young Co Clare woman who was brain-damaged following an accident on a school bus five years ago is to be paid £1.85 million and costs under a settlement approved by the High Court yesterday.

Ms Louisa Shinnors (19), Clonlara, Co Clare, had, through her mother, sued Mr Denis Ryan, Thurles, Co Tipperary; Mr Donie Ryan, Thurles; and Bus Eireann.

Ms Shinnors alleged she was a passenger in a bus which collided with a lorry owned by Mr Denis Ryan, and driven by Mr Donie Ryan, at Clonlara, Co Clare on March 11th 1996. She claimed she suffered extremely severe head injuries.
