A 20-year-old woman charged with murdering a young mother of two in Laytown, Co Meath last week was yesterday remanded in custody at Dundalk District Court.

Kelly Noble of Seaview, Laytown, Co Meath, is charged with the murder of 19-year-old Emma McLoughlin at Ninch, Laytown, on June 2nd.

Judge Flann Brennan remanded her in custody to Cloverhill Prison, Dublin and adjourned the matter to Cloverhill Court on July 5th next with the consent of the defence.

In the same court, Ms Noble also faced a number of motoring offences, including the theft of a car from Inse Bay, Laytown, on March 12th last.

The offences were admitted and the court was told by Garda Éamonn Mullarkey that Ms Noble took the car because she needed it to go to Dublin, where her own car had been seized.

She took the car from a house in The Rise, Inse Bay, without the consent of the owner.

She admitted to gardaí that she did not have a driving licence or insurance.

Judge Brennan imposed four month jail terms on the theft charge and the driving without insurance offence, suspended for one year.
