Windscreens of 17 cars smashed

Car windscreens have been smashed in what has been described by gardai as an act of "totally mindless vandalism" near Newport, Co Tipperary, early yesterday. Concrete blocks and stones were used in the attacks on at least 17 vehicles. Angry car-owners complained to Killaloe Garda station after they woke up to find their windscreens shattered. Nothing was taken from any of the vehicles.
