The death has occurred of the wife of the former Kerry footballer Mick O’Dwyer.
Mary Carmel O’Dwyer from Waterville had been ill for some time. She passed away yesterday evening. She had been involved in the tourism industry for many years including running her own hotel and BB in Waterville. The couple had been married for 50 years and had four sons.
Her husband served as manager of the Kildare, Laois and Wicklow senior football teams. However, it was as manager of the Kerry senior football team from 1974 until 1989 that he gained a reputation as one the most successful managers of all time.
