A 58-year-old widow, who broke her wrist when she slipped and fell while dancing in a Dublin ballroom, has been awarded £20,000 damages for personal injuries against White Lace Ltd, which trades as Barry's Hotel.

Mr Conor Devally, counsel for Mrs Margaret Fagan, of New Street, Dublin, told the Dublin Circuit Civil Court that liability had been conceded and the parties were seeking an assessment of damages.

Mrs Fagan said she had been dancing on the night of August 10th, 1997, when she slipped on a spillage on the dance floor. She had fallen heavily on her left arm which broke at the wrist joint.
