The wet weather is unlikely to dampen spirits at this weekend's annual Dublin Pride Parade with participants urged to dress loud and proud.

Organisers say they're expecting up to 5,000 people to turn out for this year's parade and outdoor party in the amphitheatre of the civic offices at Wood Quay afterward but advised keeping a brolly handy with scattered showers forecast.

The parade will set off from Garden of Remembrance, Parnell Square North at 2.15pm tomorrow led by this year's Grand Marshall, Senator David Norris.

Traffic restrictions will be in force at various points along the parade route but gardai are not expecting motorists to be too inconvenienced.

Met Éireann says the day will bring a mixture of bright or sunny intervals and scattered showers, with highest temperatures ranging 14 to 17 degrees.

The rest of the weekend is forecast to be generally cloudy with showery outbreaks of rain likely, which could be heavy or possibly thundery at times.

AA Roadwatch are urging motorists to drive carefully as the recent heavy rain has caused flooding in many areas around the country.

The main sporting events centre round Sunday's Leinster football semi-final clash between Dublin and Offaly at Croke Park and the Munster hurling semi-final between Limerick and Tipperary at Páirc na nGael in Limerick.
