A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a woman caught having a romantic encounter with her boyfriend on the pitch of Croke Park.
Student Ms Sinéad Duffy (23), failed to appear in court where she was due to make a contribution to charity for her amorous escapade with Mr John Clarke (24), in the stadium on the night before the Clare-Kilkenny hurling final.
Mr Clarke turned up but his case was adjourned to February 10th. Both pleaded guilty last September to trespassing with intent, apologised and expressed deep embarrassment.
Dublin District Court heard the pair had climbed over the Jones's Road gate on September 7th at about 2 a.m. and went to the centre of the pitch where they were spotted by two gardaí on protection duty.
They found Ms Duffy "in a state of undress" and Mr Clarke lying on the ground beside her.
After reading references for them, Judge James Scally said they appeared to be people concerned with the less well-off in society and that this incident seem to be "a one-off, an aberration".
If they made contributions of €500 each to the Father Peter McVerry charity for the homeless he would consider dealing with them "in a certain way", the judge said, giving them until yesterday to come up with the money.
Judge Scally expressed surprise yesterday when only Mr Clarke appeared before him. Ms Duffy's solicitor, Mr Peter Higgins, said her tutor had sent a fax confirming she had an appointment in Waterford to do research work.
"She did not mean any disrespect, she is a decent girl," Mr Higgins said.
Judge Scally said she was on bail and was obliged to turn up like everyone else.
