Consumers have been advised to cook all mushrooms before eating them

Consumers have been advised to cook all mushrooms before eating them. A number of samples of raw mushrooms tested positive for Salmonella kedougou following routine testing of catering and wholesale mushrooms in the UK.

As a precaution the Food Safety Authority of Ireland is advising consumers and commercial caterers to cook mushrooms, as this kills salmonella. There is no evidence that any mushrooms produced in the Republic are contaminated, according to the FSAI.
