Wellington - A wallaby thought to be extinct for nearly a century is alive and well on a small island in New Zealand.

Wellington - A wallaby thought to be extinct for nearly a century is alive and well on a small island in New Zealand.

An Australian research centre said in a statement its tests had identified the marsupials living on Kawau Island, 33 miles north-east of Auckland, as tammar wallabies which vanished from the South Australian mainland in the early 1900s.
