Washington - The US urged Israeli and Palestinian leaders yesterday to reach a peace accord within a year and called for a Middle East summit after Israeli elections next month.
"Acting in a spirit of partnership and moving away from zero-sum mentality, Israelis and Palestinians can work together to achieve a just and lasting peace," the White House spokesman, Mr Joe Lockhart, said.
