Up in the air

THE line-up for Radio Ireland is still shrouded in secrecy

THE line-up for Radio Ireland is still shrouded in secrecy. Dan Collins, the station's head (and brother of new RTE DG Bob) will only say mysteriously that it is talking to several people - which seems suspiciously secret given that the station is set to be on air in 10 weeks. People who are lined up include Mark, Costigan, for the station's chief news reporter job, and Conor Kavanagh who has left RTE to be head of news.

What everyone wants to know, of course, is if the new station has managed to bag any big front-of-mike names from RTE. On that score, Dan will only vehemently deny the persistent rumours that the entire Gerry Ryan team including the Panto man himself, have been approached to defect from 2FM. Donal Dineenan, the brilliant presenter of RTE's No Disco TV programme, is set to move over to the new station.
