Trade union leaders at Amicus will next week meet bosses at chocolate maker Cadbury over plans to cut its Dublin workforce by 450.
As part of a drive to cut costs and improve competitiveness, the workforce at the Coolock plant will be slashed over the next two to three years.
Cadbury Ireland said the move, if successful, would secure an investment in excess of €100 million over the next three years.
Noirin Green, Amicus regional officer, said many issues had to be resolved.
"The redundancy plans are still in the very early stages and there are many questions to be answered, but we are hopeful that the meeting on Monday will offer us the opportunity to present our case and reach an agreement that is satisfactory for Amicus members," she said.
Amicus represents staff at the plant working in the clerical, administrative and technical fields.
Dozens of members at the plant today met with union officers to discuss the company's proposals for the restructuring and re-organisation and voice concerns over their futures with the company.
Amicus hopes to confirm further details of Cadbury's redundancy plan, with a view to protect jobs and ensure the pensions benefit scheme for current employees are honoured.
