An athletics track and synthetic pitch at University College Cork (UCC), which incurred extensive damage in last November’s flooding, is to reopen following extensive repairs and renovations.
The Mardyke Sports Grounds was badly damaged by the pre-Christmas Cork flooding. The college was forced to replace its all-weather pitch at the Mardyke when the river Lee burst its banks, flooding the site. The athletics track will reopen on Tuesday with the synthetic pitch following on Monday, April 12th. The flood damage is estimated to have cost up to €25 million.
