The All-Ireland under-21 hurling championship received a significant boost today with the news that Erin Foods will sponsor the competition until 2006.

The championship - launched in 1964 - is one of the fastest growing competitions in Ireland in terms of attendances and public interest.

GAA President Sean Kelly today welcomed the deal. He said the sponsorship would "further increase the profile of hurling at under-21 level."

The competition will now be know as the Erin Under 21 Hurling Championship.
