Tyrone man shot in paramilitary-style attack

A man (22) was shot in the ankle by a gang of masked men last night in what police described as a "paramilitary assault".

A man (22) was shot in the ankle by a gang of masked men last night in what police described as a "paramilitary assault".

The man was attacked by at least four men in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, just before midnight. The gang took the victim into a garden and shot him in the ankle.

The man was taken to hospital and his condition was not thought to be life-threatening.

In follow-up searches a handgun and amunition were found, a police spokesman said.
